Kaitlyn Shrum, MA, CCC-SLP, QOM, CMT, certBBM, is the owner and founder of Southern Speech & Myo and Breathe Strong. She earned her Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida. Kaitlyn holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a Certified Myofunctional Therapist (CMT), Qualified Orofacial Myologist (QOM), and certified Buteyko Breathing Method (certBBM) instructor.
She has completed extensive advanced training in dysphagia, orofacial myofunctional disorders, Buteyko Breathing, TOTS Training, the SOFFI Method, the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and the Kaufman Approach for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Kaitlyn is the author of Frankie Goes to Camp, a children’s book that introduces breathwork techniques, and Freddy Gets His Tongue Untied, which helps prepare children and families for tongue-tie release procedures. She has published research on pediatric sleep-disordered breathing, phonemic awareness in children with disabilities, and the impact of dialogic book reading on vocabulary development. She is a founding member of the North Florida Airway Health Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the Oral Motor Institute.
In addition to her clinical practice, Kaitlyn is dedicated to mentoring healthcare professionals and provides continuing education for speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and registered dental hygienists.
